Distribution of radionuclide in the forest soils (Western Ghats-India)
Background: The presence of radionuclides in the soil, measures need to be taken to minimize the radiation dose to humans. It is mostly gamma-emitting radionuclides that contribute to the radiation dose in long term behavior of these radionuclides in soil may determine the extent to which such countermeasures need to be applied. Materials and Methods: The activity concentration of these radionu...

متن کاملCentennial rainfall variation in semi arid and tropical humid environments in the cardamom hill slopes, southern Western Ghats, India
Studies of rainfall variation generally focus on large areas. For example, in India, the area average monsoon rainfall series of the whole country or meteorological subdivisions are used. This would be of no use for local agriculture, particularly in places where rainfall is very high or very low, especially for crops like small cardamom and vanilla which are very sensitive to soil moisture and...
متن کاملA note on spatial and temporal distribution of Anopheline mosquitoes in Western Ghats, Southern India
Mosquito faunal surveys were carried out in different habitats of 11 hill ranges of the Western Ghats between 2000 and 2012. Thirty three anopheline species were examined and recorded out of 8730 specimens belonging to subgenera Anopheles (12) and Cellia (21). Very low densities of malaria vectors Anopheles (Cellia) fluviatilis (0.7%) and An. (Cel.) culicifacies (3.04%) were also recorded.
متن کاملBlack Pepper Leaf Oil Mass Spectrometric Profile Variations in the Southern Western Ghats of India
Piper nigrum leaves were collected from five locations from Kerala within a radius of 150 km, altitudinal variance of 1000m and annual rainfall variance of 1400mm. The extracted Piper nigrum leaf oil was profiled using a GC-MS, Beta Caryophyllene was the only constituent that was present in all the five locations, of which the highest concentration was noted in the high altitude region of Idukk...
